Kay Meadows is a Mississippi-born illustrator and children’s book author with a love for nature, storytelling, and all things Southern. She combines her background in art with a passion for early childhood education to create books that are both beautiful and meaningful. Her preferred medium is watercolor, but she has worked in pencil, charcoal, pastel, and acrylic. A graphic designer, she has traveled around the world as a Book of Hope Foundation missionary and has worked in the publishing industry, designing and illustrating content for books, including Louisiana Animals ABC and Chili Time, Y’all!: How Texas Found Its State Cuisine, King of the Shoebox Parade, It’s Hot in Louisiana, It’s Raining in Louisiana, It’s Sunny in Florida, It’s Raining in Florida, It’s Hot in Texas and It’s Bigger in Texas also published by Pelican. She lives in Brandon, Mississippi, where she is inspired by nature and her dogs, cat, and four colorful, noisy chickens.
